TimeView App Lets Restaurant Patrons Join a Wait List Via Smartphone or Web

SAN FRANCISCO, March 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ – TimeView LLC announced the availability of TimeView (www.mytimeview.com), an app that lets diners join a restaurant wait list via a smartphone or the web. TimeView is available for iPhone, Android and online.

TimeView announced the availability of the app after rigorous testing and use in San Francisco area restaurants. TimeView will be available in other major U.S. cities soon, including Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C.

TimeView lets restaurant goers search for restaurant wait times by geographic location, party size and preferences, such as inside or patio seating. Consumers can check wait times, join a wait list, and then monitor their status on the wait list via a smartphone or the web. Downloading the app is free, as is searching and reviewing restaurant wait lists. Consumers pay a 99-cent fee to join a wait list remotely.

“The response to TimeView from consumers and restaurant owners has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Brad Schildt, TimeView co-founder and executive vice president. “By using the TimeView app, consumers avoid waiting in line, get status updates from the restaurant, and arrive when their table is ready.”

For restaurants, the TimeView iPad application replaces pen and paper wait lists and pager systems. When they are busy, restaurants can quickly and efficiently add, seat, manage and communicate with customers. The TimeView software includes preset functions to enhance productivity and many custom features to accommodate unique restaurant needs. In addition to offering exceptional customer service during peak periods, TimeView helps restaurants fill tables during shoulder times by showing short or no waits for tables. Restaurants that use TimeView instead of, or in addition to, an online reservation system provide better customer service at a dramatically lower overhead. ”With monthly fees plus $1 per customer (party of 4 is $4), the expense of OpenTable can add up to a significant and unnecessary expense for many restaurants,” Schildt said.

“On a typical weekend we use TimeView to seat more than 300 parties. The number of customers paying TimeView to add their name remotely to our wait list is steadily rising and is now over 100 per month,” said Patrik Hendrickson, general manager of Rick & Ann’s Restaurant, Berkeley, Calif. “With the new super-fast data entry features, using TimeView is fun and easy.”
